Re: Renewing gear selector fork bushes - advice requested!
does it not damage the splines this way Not really, but anyway it doesn't matter. They don't fit into matching slots or anything, they just give a bit of grip. See here, some of the splines on my selector are flattened, but it makes no difference. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v75/Pootle/T25_Ge...

Re: Renewing gear selector fork bushes - advice requested!
could you point me to how you rotated the spline In my case it felt as if the gearstick wasn't going far enough over to the left to get 1st gear. By twisting the front half of the selector shaft, the back half of the shaft is able to turn one spline more than it did before when the gearstick moves ...

Re: Renewing gear selector fork bushes - advice requested!
...I couldn't get 1st gear AT ALL. 2nd was difficult. 3rd, 4th and reverse were fine. It felt as if the stick needed to go further left to get 1st. If that was true, it made sense that the new selector tips would make things worse because they are "fatter" than the old worn tips. By now I ...

Re: Renewing gear selector fork bushes - advice requested!
Today I refitted the repaired front selector shaft to the van. I widened the centre "socket" on the UJ undeneath the van by pushing a screwdriver into the slots in the side (easy). I fed the repaired front selector shaft from the back to the front over the fuel tank, then from the front to...

Re: Renewing gear selector fork bushes - advice requested!
OK following the advice above I've got the selector shaft out and changed the selector tips! There's a full set of photos here: http://photobucket.com/T25GSFR" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. I've got a few questions in BOLD below. Please click on the thumbnails! 1. Here's t...

Renewing gear selector fork bushes - advice requested!
I've started to have occasional trouble getting 1st gear so I bought the Brickwerks selector fork repair kit but I need a bit of advice. I'm doing it on my own, I don't have access to a pit or anything - I've got some axle stands. I dropped the spare wheel and felt around inside the tin box around t...

Re: Intermittent misfire only when hot (motorway cruising)
do you do 70 with a cold engine then? When I first get onto the motorway it's fine at 70+, but after about 15 minutes - i.e. the engine is properly hot - the misfire starts. just to clarify this power loss is only at 70? or at lower speeds? Yes only at motorway speeds. The engine is a 1.9DG with a ...

Re: Intermittent misfire only when hot (motorway cruising)
My temp gauge does the same at 70 Many thanks Kev, but you've got the wrong end of the stick a bit. I mentioned the temperature gauge to show that the engine isn't getting too hot . The temperature is what I'd expect, and how it's always been for the last 15 years. The intermittent misfire is somet...

Intermittent misfire only when hot (motorway cruising)
The van has started to misfire when very hot, i.e. cruising at 70+ on the motorway. It will happily pootle around town all day. When it misfires, it doesn't backfire, just stumbles and slows. On that really hot October day two weeks ago it got so bad we had to be recovered back to Bristol, it was da...

Re: Fuel hose size confusion
I have just replaced the hose between the fuel pump and (Weber 34DAT) carb with 7.5mm bore fuel hose. I noticed that it was a tight fit on the carb but an easier fit on the fuel pump. To make sure of a good seal I used proper fuel hose clips at each end and checked for no leaks with the engine runni...

3000 miles isn't so far, do it at a relaxed 60mph and you will see a LOT more of all those beautiful countries!

Re: T25 5 Speed Gearbox
Having looked at RJES, that is a really expensive option...to get them to do it, is about £4k, and the fuel economy doesn't seen any more than 4mpg better!! If you do 10,000 miles a year a 4mpg improvement will save you roughly £550 a year. Insuring the van could be a problem though, I expect insur...

Trouble getting 1st gear from neutral when stationary
It's getting difficult to engage 1st gear from neutral, it feels as if something is stopping the stick from moving "into the slot". But if I keep the clutch down, and engage 2nd then quickly into 1st it's fine. What is the problem likely to be? It doesn't feel like a gearbox problem... :) ...

Re: mechanic did an oil change with semisynth
I always use a cheap semi-synth in my wasserboxer. Very occasional van droppings (and I mean less than a teaspoon a month) but runs perfectly. I change it every 5k or twice a year.
