Re: Wire in a new stereo problem

Hi, I think you may be right the little black box had two fuses and a couple of other things in it. Anyhow with or without it the stereo still only pulses on and off never seeming to have enough power to run the stereo. I don t think it can be a blown inline fuse, mainly because there is power but i...

Exhaust has threaded bolt hole on Manifold

I was getting some complaints from my better half, saying there were fumes getting into the back of the cab. The complaint was greeted with the usual "Uh". A few weeks later after the exhaust was sounding like it was blowing a little, I thought I had better have a look. The problem looked ...

Re: When should the radiator fan come on?

Hi, something really simple but you may not have tried - check the fuse! I forget which one it is but someone had put a too small fuse in my bus and it was blown - didn't notice for a year of owning it till a hot day on the peripherique round Paris - very bad news. Cheers. I will try that asap. Lik...

Re: Removal and re-fitting Starter Motor

Got straight to it this morning at ten sharp, first thing was to jack her up even higher to the top setting on my axle stands found a halogen light and shone it in through the wheel arch. I photographed the cables so as to remind myself of the order, I always do this and it often helps my aging brai...

Re: When should the radiator fan come on?

Ok great, that might explain why I've never heard the fan. I have had car after car which loves to overheat, so whenever the temp has gone over halfway on the gauge I've turned on the heaters. I will brave it on a warm day.

Cheers

When should the radiator fan come on?

Hi Folks, just another little query.

I have never heard my fan come on and believe it might be faulty.

Where on the temp gauge should the needle be when the fan is supposed to operate? this is on a 1.9 petrol.

Re: Mobile mechanic needed in Stoke on Trent area

Thanks for all your help kev. I've spent the day tinkering and she now runs much better, I think the vacuum pipe was very perished and part of the problem. Once the engine was capable of running until it was hot, I was able to adjust the mixture so that she is now running better than before there w...

Re: Mobile mechanic needed in Stoke on Trent area

The Choke pull down unit has a diaphragm in it and is prone to failure, simple check is to pull the hose to it off the carb and suck...if you can keep sucking without stopping then the diaphram has failed The brake servo hose again although braided is made from rubber and will leak air into the mani...

Re: Mobile mechanic needed in Stoke on Trent area

I will get busy in the morning, my vacuum pipes are thin plastic with a bradded rubber bit on the end, should they have jubilee clips on the fittings. Also some of the large pipes from the heat exchanger are broken could this affect it.

I will do the checks and the get back to you.
