Talk:Steering and Suspension alternative steering wheels

First a couple of points: T25 steering wheels are large because the majority haven't got power steering so require the extra leverage a larger wheel provides. Smaller steering wheels do to some degree (depending on the size of the driver) partially block line of sight to the instruments. So why would you want to swap to anything else? well to be quite blunt, the standard wheels, even the padded Carat found on the posher buses, are ugly. So excepting this article won't appeal or indeed be applicable to most, I will give details of one popular alternative possibly for those fortunate enought to have power steering: The 4 button Golf Mk1 steering wheel. It is one of only a few attractive VW wheels, that has the required smaller spline so does not need a step down coller to fit the T25 column. With very minor modifications this wheel fits and works a treat although several users have reported the additional requirement of a spacing coller behind the wheel (although mine and many others have fitted without issue)

You need three of these little posts in order to raise the switch gear so the self cancelling indicaters work correctly.
