I made this up just for vanagon trannies to make one-man installs easy. It has a fore/aft slide adjustment for balance; the CG of a 2WD is way different than a Syncro so that can be corrected. And it has a tilt adjustment that leaves some freeplay to wiggle the trans when it's being mated to an engine. The whole thing bolts to a spare floorjack. Works nice.

Gearbox removal brackets Thanks To Aidan for lending me the gear and allowing this to be reproduced. These allow you to remove the gearbox with it attached to something solid so it doesn't fall off and injure you or worse your gearbox. It also allows some freedom of movement to wiggle the box past the various bits. I was removing a Syncro gearbox but it can be used for 2 wheel drive boxes as well. VW made some lugs and holes exactly for this purpose. It uses an upper ball joint and some 6mm threaded bar bent to suit.
