Newbie alert! Header tank cap removal

Hi there,

recently bought our first T25 and the coolant level light is flashing. I understand both the header and top up tanks should be full but I'm unsure of how you remove the header tank cap. Do you need to remove the pipe that goes to the top up tank to unscrew it? Does it unscrew or do you just pull it out?

Thanks for your help.

Yes, remove the pipe, and unscrew counterclockwise. Remember to replace pipe when refitting :ok

Thanks very much for your super quick response. Checked the coolant levels and both tanks are full. I guess the sensor is a bit dodgy.

Cheers

:D

We had a bit of a thread about this just recently, see = https://club8090.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=99463" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

The level sensor is on the top of the left hand tank, it comes out quite easily and often the probes just need brightening up a bit. Apparently the system works best when the correct amount of anti-freeze is there, too much and it won't work, and non and it won't work (depending on how pure the water is in your area, reason = impure water is a better electrical conductor).

btw, the tank behind the number plate flap has coolant level marks, it should not be full up.
