Hi All

I've got a new engine hatch seal from Just Kampers as ours is ripped in a few places and is a pain to get back into place. The old one seems to be glued down, but I don't know if perhaps that's just that over time it's stuck to the metal.

Any suggestions as to what I should use to stick the new one down? I was looking at aruldite but I don't want to make the rubber deteriorate.

you shouldn't need to glue it. try dropping it in a bowl of boiling water for 5 mins before fitting it

I used clear silicone for mine, worked a treat.

Becareful of your lid locks, coz the rubber Will be thicker, I snapped one putting my lid on.

Thanks cyrus. We've done it, we used some serious glue which held it fine. It was a bit harder to get the hatch on, but fortunately nothing has broken so I guess it will flatten down a bit in time.

I bought the engine hatch seal from Just Kampers for T25 (part J10737) a while back but didn't try installing it until today. I cut it down to size and it fits fine but now I can't get the lid back on. The J10737 seal is made of solid foam while the original is a foam piping i.e. it is hollow rather than solid. It's impossible to compress the J10737 foam enough to get the lid back on.

Has anyone experience this?

Yep - hard as ***k - better to get soft neoprene from sealsdirect. That's what I'll do next time - stuff JK's rubbish.

I snapped one of my lid locks whilst trying to fit the jk seal

Does anyone know if the rubber brickwerks engine hatch seal has the same problem as the JK one?

I wouldn't think brickwerks would sell anything that's not tried and tested.
