Probably a daft question; but what is a DG engine? Is it petrol or diesel? I'm after a water thermostat housing and some adverts just say its for DG engine.

you really need to know what engine you have to get the correct thermostat housing

there is a big difference tween early(82-84/85) and late petrol ones (84/85-91), a difference tween 1.9 (df,DG,DH) AND 2.1 (DJ,SS,MV)
and diesels (ky,jx,) may have one too.........

Thanks for that. Mine is an early type thermostat housing (goes near the pulley/water pump) for a 1.9 petrol engine.

then you want one for a early DG or DF

later ones are plastic , early are alloy.

For future reference find the engine number ... at the bottom of the crankcase breather tower ... and write the prefix (i.e. DG, DF) and van details etc in your signature at the bottom of the page. Then we'll know how to help you in future.

In my case it would read ...
1989 2.1DJ 5 speed manual running lpg through a DG carb.
