Does anyone know if a sliding offside door from a 1989 Caravelle will fit a 1983 LHD Westy?
Cheers in advance.

Anything can be made to fit but it's far more faff than it is worth as the differences are rather stark, mainly where the striker plate is and the middle hinge
What is wrong with the door you have? Post some pictures of the damage and let the resident tinworm experts tell you how you can save it

no lhd to rhd wont fit
try to find a twin slider, but a 83 could most likely be an early door, so expensive hens teeth time im afraid

the door opening sizes are the same
the bottom and top runners on the van are the same
rear middle runner changed around 83 so you need to check at the same time outer handle , front rear latches also changed.
its easier to modify your van to fit a late door than it is to find a good early door!

This could save you a load of messing if you just take the time to post some pictures

Sorry it's took so long. Life has other goodies in store as well.
How can I add photos?

if they are on the computer you need to host them on the internet
use
http://www.photobucket.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
upload the pictures to them (it's free)
copy the IMG code that photobucket give the picture
paste it in the reply box on here
and thats it

I haven't a clue what's going on but I joined photobucket but every
time I try to upload the photos, I get sent round in circles from one type
of sign in page to another & so on.
Can't I just upload them from my PC?

if you look at the bottom of the reply box on here it says upload attachment
but it is a very limited service.

Aha! Nearly worked.
I'll have to shrink it for the web in Adobe to get it
to 144k/b or less. I'll have to do that our lasses PC.
Cheers Kev.

So I suppose what I want to know is (best guesstimate) what would all this cost to
cut out, replace/reweld & repaint in matched colour(spectrometer job?).
Cheers in advance.

I'd say around £1500 to £2000.... from my experience
reason being these vans have a habit of escalating

I really do think the use of a 'spectrometer' is rather jumping the gun and running before getting of all 4's
sorry but from looking at thoise picks, the rest will be as bad? yes
