Hayling Island

Popped down to Hayling Island today as the sun was shinning and I hadn't been before.
I was very impressed to find the West car park allows overnighting for £8 out of season and £10 in season. There were toilets, showers and a place to empty a chemical toilet.
Well done to the local council!
I hope this catches on and dare I say it, we become a little more like the French!

That £10 fee only covers you between the hours of 10pm and 8am. You would have to buy extra tickets for any hours before and after those times.

No. Its the car park next to the golf course. There is a pub there too called Inn on the Beach.
There are a couple of spots on Hayling where you could camp wild, both with nice views.

We spent last night in this car park. Parked right on the sea and could hear the waves from the van.
There were about 15 motorhomes parked up — we were the only T25 there – it would be great to see a few more using it.
Had problems with the RinGo system. Wouldnt work on the iPhone app, nor did it work when phoning the number. I was lucky as others (who also tried paying via RinGo) got parking tickets _ these people will need to appeal against this. I told the traffic warden the system wasn't working and they will look into it.
One tip is to buy a Radar key from the tourist info office which is situated in the fairground. The key cost £3.00 and allows access to the disabled toilet at night and allows access to a shower. This is a one off payment and the can be used at all times.
or purchase key from here:

Is the Radar key meant to be for people with a disability?

Yes. But can be used by anyone it seems. I bought one from Tourist info . The lady who served said they were very popular.

Seems like the local council have upped the hi-season price to £20 a night - 10pm - 8am.

I'm a resident of Hayling Island and recently complained to the local councillor about the increased overnight parking charges on the seafront.
There is a forthcoming review of these charges - which have been increased to protect the business interests of the local campsites to the detriment of other local businesses and our wallets.
