Hi

my lesiure battery seems flat,when i tried to light fridge last night on gas,the auto ignition would not kick in so i thought i would charge battery up,when i hooked it up to charge the auto ignition kicked in, my charger showed fully charged battery ie( needle was at 0 )
i have just left it on charge for the night
am i missing something or am i just thick ?

Sounds like a case of a totally foobarred battery

Leave it on charge overnight (disconnected from the vans electrics) then leave it for 24 hours, then measure the voltage, it should be around 12.6 to 12.8 volts, any less (esp if it reads zero !) means it is shot.

had it on charge over night and tested,and it still reads fully charged on charger and shows 12.5 on meter
the auto ignition on fridge is working fine at the moment.
i will check it tomorrow

Give is at least 24 hours on a standard (4amp car charger) it might read well initially so leave it a further 8 hours then check the standing charge.
It really should be reading 12.6 volts or higher given that amount of charge.

ok had the battery on charge for 24 hrs then checked with multimeter and read 12.5,then checked it this morning and reads 10.5

Q. Am i using analog multimeter right ?

I set it to DCV 25 then take my reading from dial DC up to 25 so needle goes half way up giving a reading of 12.5
its a smart multimeter

Yep sounds like you are using it correctly (hard to get it wrong reading DC volts )

Sorry but that battery is shot to bits.

cheers ghost for your help i will have to get another lesiure battery,i have a spare car battery that i will use for now

OK, note though if using a normal car battery, do not let it fall below about 11.8 volts or you will seriously shorten it's usable life.
