Just about ever t25 will have play in the 12-6 o clock position.. 2 reasons.. the bearing housing settle over time.. but also because of the type of bearing they are.. the outer bearing is a roller bearing and has a "clearance grind" to allow for the bearing clearance when its hot.. trouble is a lot of MOT testers dont get it..
as long as there is no play at 9-3 and it isnt a great amount at 12-6 then its normal... you should have a friendly chat with the tester to explain that there is no adjustment and its down to the design of the assembly..
All "modern" vehicles have either preloaded bearing assemblys or taper roller bearings..

Many newer cars (certainly the Focus and Morondeo) come with the rear bearings pre-pressed and crimped into a casting that's disposable

The bearing housing itself can also wear but I agree, some slight play is normal on these.

play in a bearing is not a failure (reason for rejection)
just tell the tester t show the failure criterea
1. Excessive roughness in a near wheel bearing.
2. Excessive play in a rear wheel bearing, indicating severe maladjustment or wear.
before excessive there is NO , SLIGHT , PLAY and LOTS

I ve taken my camper back for re-test this morning and he passed it.he mentioned the play in the wheel bearings and i explained to him about the play and he said yes there is play but not as bad as it was and before it was also not running smoothly,it was also grating. They lasted only two years and were ve-tech bearings and now after reading up on them on here I KNOW they are pants.got my new ones from brickwerks (fag)

the ones i took off were shot. Thanks for all your replys
