Hello, can any body provide or point me in the right direction for a wiring diagram of what should be in the engine bay wiring box.
Mine is an 1986 Syncro petrol, and the wiring looks to of been bodged over the years.
Thanks

Wiring diagrams can be found in the haynes manual and Bently Manual (available as a cd off ebay)
Thay both seem to have a "selection" of diagrams rather than a comprehensive set.
VW wirng diagrams take a bit of getting used to, Haynes gives a good explaination of how they work.
You wont find a diagram of the engine bay wiring box because the diagrams are of systems rather than locations.
The key to the diagrams gives letters & numbers to all the components AND CONNECTORS in the system.
From this you can make your own list of the systems that have connectors in the engine bay wiring box (T1b ?)
My van was originally a 1.9 DG 1989.
In the box was (from my notes made last year using haynes and tracing what was there) >
Green - coil neg to dash for buzzer of doom
Black - Ignition
Blue/Black - Oil pressure 0.3 bar
Purple/Black - Manifold pre heat 'stat (controls relay in the box)
Yellow - 1.9 bar "buzzer of doom"
Yellow/red - Water temp sensor (paired with a brown earth)
Thick red - manifold heating element , via relay ?
Black - Auto choke & Idle cut of valve ?
Bolt terminal with red battery feed (taken from connection on starter motor)
This list may have omissions & errors as the box had already been attacked when the original V8 conversion was done
Hope this helps
