hi everyone just got an rm212 3 way fridge sorted the 240v side and gas out but a bit confused as to the 12v side , the wires have been cut and im not sure what goes where , be grateful if someone could point me in the right direction please

Any help? It's how an RM122 is wired for 12v?

well from what i can gather the red is the live can i connect this to the split charge relay so it runs off the alternator when driving ? its the 2 black wires which i assume are earths i dont understand , oh and the white one as well lol

It looks like +12ve comes in on the red wire. The black wire the other side goes to the 12v switch, then to the heater element, back from the element to earth via the wire lead. Have the black leads in your photo been cut because the heater element was u/s? One of the black leads is +12ve an the other is earth. It doesn't matter which is which because there are connected either side of the heater element.

Don't assume anything by the colour of wires - brown on vw wiring is negative/earth but on modern 230v this is a live conductor. Trace each wire yourself to see where it goes and what the function is as you could find yourself in deep doo-doo or even fried.

Re-examining your photo there is a blue 230v neutral conductor that has been converted into a brown conductor - asking for trouble. Change it back to blue so that there are no accidents.

The cables are the original Electrolux ones and are both brown, the only blue is in the 3 core flex from the 13A plug. I'd certainly lose that in line connector strip if possible or enclose it in a 'choc box' to prevent access to potentially live parts though.

ok got the fridge working on 12v , well it was drawing current anyway ! i only loose wired it but did notice a hissing sound coming fro the leisure battery when i connected the live wire is this anything to worry about ?

hissing from a battery is never a great sign.
Is it a real leisure battery? can you open the top to topup the fluids??? personally I would check the levels if at all possible

yes its a proper leisure battery it may have been my fault i only held a wire to the live to see if it was drawing any current

I know it’s not about the wiring but my query is about the fridge. The fridge in my fan has no external flu, or venting. I have noticed many campers without these; do I need to get this sorted?

If you are running your fridge on gas then YES you do need a vent. Otherwise carbon monoxide will build up to a dangerous level inside the van.

cheers Paul, not running on gas yet, but would like the option. So will get them fitted.
