Ive just bought a T25 as a project but need an engine plus gearbox. I was thinking of putting an audi a3 1.8t into it but im not to sure. Anyone know if this is possible or what would be best?

it's possible but that's Bernd Jaeger - bit of a legend with conversions. I'm afraid I don't know how difficult it is - someone else may well know, if not you could perhaps e-mail him.

I think the 1.8T's fairly popular in the US - have a look on Samba

I've been thinking of something like a VW 2.5 V6 Diesel. One of my friends has a Passat with that engine, and says its one of the smoothest engines he's ever driven...

If you use the search you will see lots of info. about alternative engines (2e, AGG, TDi, Subaru, et al).

Peter- T - A VW V6 diesel will probably tear the insides of the gearbox to small pieces.

If only it were that easy.

There is some discussion on the brickyard about flipped Front wheel drive boxes.
The alternatives are expensive - Renault UN1 with adaptor plates or Porsche boxes.

anything is possible.

depends on your pocket , ability , tools and dedication

done properly nothing is cheap

and dont forget most non standard(t25) setups require a modified gearbox to get the best from the engine - so make sure its included in your budget

and if you want something built with the right uprated parts so it will last your looking at £3000 plus
