Alternator problem

On a break away my alternator dashboard light came on. I have 2 digital voltmeters on the dash and they both read +15v. I thought something wrong there. Anyway I got it home ok.

I’ve charged the battery at home on my Tronic 3 stage charger though can only get 12.45V from the battery after fully charged.

I replaced the Alternator Regulator. An Alternator place in Nottingham, which some members have used before supplied me a new regualtor. I fitted it, but still having issues which are:

The red light still comes on the dashboard, dim at idle and glows more as engine revved. However the alternator range on the digital readings is lower then before I changed the regulator when had the problem.

I get charging range between 13.9v to 14.8v, but it’s not going to +15v as it was beforehand.

Is there other things in the alternator which can cause the red light to come on? Or is it that the battery not accepting a charge would that make the red light come on?

I might have to be looking at a new alternator?

Yes the diode plate in the alternator is on it's way out mate.
This very thing happened to me and lasted six weeks before the whole thing packed up.
I got up to 18 Volts before it went pop.
