Busy weekend and a some fun..

Did a couple of jobs done on the syncro Sat, front diff swap and the protection bars and skid plate back on, knobblies on too.. then out for a drive with the Lincs Off Road club on Sunday.. hadnt seen the guys for a year coz i've been soo busy in Holland.. New rules for the trials and some tricky tight gates to negotiate.. as usual tried hard and went everywhere the landy boys did.. but the clutch took some abuse as we just dont have the low crawler gearing they do..
Even tho the wheelbase isnt far off a rangry, the front over hang made it impossible to get through some slalom gates the RR's could.. So not too impressed with the score... 156.. the days winner scored 76 in class... I must admit I was a bit frazzled by the last trial and messed up several gates...
But as Bonnie was helping out recording the days scores she did say "your not last dad..
" (there were a few with bigger scores...)
Did get to meet a new chap who turned up in a Unimog 404.. which oddly enough, no volanteers to co pilot so I ended up spotting for him each run.. (he goes last and they take one side of each gate out.. its just for fun.. )
It was great.. I still want one...
But glad I didnt buy one 6 years ago when I was looking and the Syncro came up... think I would have got peed off with its impracticality.. it would have to be a toy... unless I could find a little work for it...
I had aches and pains this morn when I got up, from lying under the syncro Sat.. the 404 chap must be aching too, he had to work so hard on the steering (no PAS) if he keeps that up, he have arms like popeye...
Turns out hes a bit of a mechanical nut too and has a few bits old old palnt.. a couple of Thwaites Tusker dumper diggers like the one I am partially restoring (taking a while..) so prob gonna go see him soon
Looks like I have cured the vibe and noise I had on the Syncro.. so should be all set for Shipston.. and then SP..... planing a few days off around each, even tho I cant really afford holiday days outside of the usual french trips we need to do... Think I am gonna be on unpaid vacation days way before the end of this year...
