i have come to change the glowplugs on my camper, the ones i have removed are champion 69-c and the ones i have been given are lucus lp034 which are slightly longer than the champion ones. does anyone know if this will be a problem? i bought them from my local factors and the book did say they were for the jx thanks

At least you managed to get yours out mate, I have the back 2 out but am struggling to get the one closest to the back out, it has rounded off and I don't know what magic to envoke to release it....as for the one hidden behind the pump well not looked at that one yet.

Always a worry....as you don't quite know if they are correct or not.
When you say the new ones are longer is that overall or from seat to tip (where the plug sits to it's tip). If this distance is the same then you should be OK.
I'm guessing glow plugs are a little like spark plugs in that there is probably a cross reference chart somewhere which will give you the answer.
Given that these engines are 'INDIRECT' and the glow plug tip protrudes into an Anti-chamber and not sticking out the head hitting the pistons....it's not as critical but having said this, the plugs are no use at all if they don't protrude the correct amount to pre-heat the air in those chambers.
Looking at the Brickwerks website these appear fairly universal for all VW indirect injection models of this era so if you are confident in the reference material that gave you these parts they should be OK.
