We purchased a 1989 Kameo conversion T25 campervan with the rock and roll bed back seat. Our 10 month old is growing out of his maxi cosy car seat. (We installed a 3 point long seat belt for the car seat) We want the extra safety of a rear facing car seat for a bit longer and are considering installing a 0+/1. It seems that these get tethered from the back seat to the front seat (in a normal car).

Has anyone installed a rear facing child seat size 0+/1 in a campervan? Can anyone make any recommendations as to which rear facing carseats are suitable for the van?

Also, we saw somewhere on this forum that rock and roll beds might not pass a crash test. Does anyone have any information on this? Is there anything that can be done to increase the safety of the back seat?

We are hoping to take a big trip this summer

Afraid we had to turn around when both greww out of the first size.

If you really want to scare yoursleves - have a look at the scandanavian research into Forward/Rear facing - where rear facing is recommended as long as they are in a car seat. However - you do have to play the game of statistical chance (Vans are VERY safe in comparison with many vehicles - and think how far away your littel one is from a front impact - and there is an engine to protect them from the rear - and perhaps make sure you improve on those chances by driving as carefully as you can.

We couldn't find anything that would mount in a van backwards facing. Sorry.

Fit a buddy seat behind the passenger seat, then they will be rear facing all the time. Plus they are nearer to you so you can pass them drinks and snacks from the passenger seat, makes for a much more peaceful journey
