Fuel and Temp gauge woes

Old problem, both gauges work but are reading wrong and it appears conected.Turn ignition on (engine cold) led flashes then stops (good) and temp gauge goes to about half way and fuel gauge does similar(despite tank just being filled to brim) I swaped the entire dash pod for a good one and the problem is exactly the same??? Ideas anyone
Mark Cheers

Wiring fault ? Have you bridged the temp sensor plug socket ... the guage should shoot straight to the end stop.

Ta Ian, but that wouldn't explain the fuel gauge ..Bit of a puzzler

Both gauges seem to mirror each other the readings??

Could it be a dodgy thermal transistor, fitted on the pcb behind the guages? Have a look on Wiki.

Driving the Van today I notice as I drove the Van the temp gauge rose from its 1/3rds posistion to 2/3rds and the fuel gauge matched the movements exactly??...

..Not forgetting that the Temp gauge goes to the 1/3rd posistion as soon as you turn on the ignition(when cold)....ahhh this be the work of fairys....help

The more I read of these electrical woes the T25 has I'm more and more convinced to do away with the dash fuel and Temp gauges and fit 2 nice aftermarket gauges in the "Dash Tidy" . I sometimes think the 80's was a time of turmoil for cars. What ever happened to just one gauge and a sender unit. No voltage stabilisers in the dash or diodes etc .
For some strange reason my t25 has a Temp gauge in the dash as well as a voltage meter. perhaps the last owner has had problems with the original temp gauge?

I feel your pain mate. I have similar issues with mine which i cannot for the life of me suss out. My temp gauge goes all the way up with the ignition on and then rights itself when you start the engine. My battery light is always on too, even though it's charging fine.
I can only say that the printed circuit boards are a favorite pain in the a$$ and also the voltage regulators.

If the gauges are playing the same game, it's likely to be that the supply or ground is wobbly
Check the dashboard ground is good. Then see if you can get your hands on a spare voltage regulator and swap that in
My guess is the voltage regulator is going to be the problem
