replacing 1.9 DG petrol with 1.6 JX diesel

After taking out my 1.9 dg petrol engine and finally removing the exhaust system, one of the heads is stuck on. One of the studs, no 4 in the tightening sequence seems to have welded its-self to the head. A friend has a 1.6 JX diesel engine for sale with mounting. If I fit this will the gear ratios be ok or not? are there any other parts I will need to put a diesel engine in?

I'd be looking at the number of peeps with JX d****s who are swapping them for 1.9TDi or 1.9NA engines in Alternative Engine Forum if I were you.

If you're thinking long term a 2.1 wbxer would be the simpler transplant unit and it will run on your Pierburg carb plug and play.

Welcome to the forum btw :ok

Copied shamelessly from Brickyard
"Petrol to Diesel.
Pitfalls outweigh benefits, all bolt together but unless you have a engine bay to strip everything from it won't be a nice job, I have seen far too many done my Sunday Morning man, really really badly. some by so called professionals and some done by those that should know better.
You will also need engine bay wiring loom and a Diesel instrument cluster.
Buy a LPG gas conversion, it will be cheaper and easier.
Notes on fitting a Diesel engine to a petrol engined van.
Your going to have to source engine mountings, a Diesel bell housing and spigot shaft, the bellhousing is a different shape and the Diesel spigot shaft is longer. All the coolant hoses, exhaust system, and some way of operating the glow plugs. Basically you need everything out of a Diesel engine bay, pipes, cables, and some wiring, not impossible, just more work.

And he doesn’t seem to mention you’ll need a diesel starter as well..

What ever you decide good luck!
