I am really sorry for being an idiot, I have just made the jump across to T25's from Mk1 Golf's and was wondering if I can convert a Doka crew cab to a Syncro? And if so how much grief is it?

Basically I have an F plate Doka, she is a long loyal family member that cannot be parted with. I may have a doka syncro that has had a nasty side smash and the insurance company have offered my friend a nice sum and he gets to keep the truck. I want to convert as I am a tree surgeon and the truck would be my daily. I am an avid VW man who is handy with a set of spanners and I want a syncro. But will am under illusion and know I will need a hand, a head gasket on a mk1 is one thing. A syncro conversion is another............
