Please could someone recommend a supplier of alternator bearings?

2 ltr air cooled engine

Web search doesn't seem to find any in uk?

I'm sure others will come up with suggestions but providing you can remove the bearing, any good bearing supplier can usually find a match.

Usually the nearest Bosch service agent will have them. (assuming you have a Bosch alternator)
Try Bosch automotive parts distributor: Possibly - BEARING - S.R.E part no.1 120 905 102 & BEARING - D.E - part no. 1 120 905 533 ........for 90A alternator. Really need to know no. on alternator.

Neither of those numbers come up in my catalogue! Except that the 120 489 ... series are 55 and 65A models.

Would that mean they aren't available anymore?

The catalogue covers vehicles from to the '60s to 2008 so would have just thought that it is an omission for some reason. They are definitely available even if you end up getting them from your nearest bearing factor. My local one is very helpful. Plenty in Devon see here. Just take the old ones in with you.

They will be standard metric bearings and as Mr Oldie say's available from any bearing stockist. There will be a number (probably on the bearing outer race) ... i.e. 6208ZZ or 6208 2RS or similar, once you've found the numbers and confirmed they are the correct bearings post them in this post for others

Great, will take to a bearing supplier tomorrow. Spoke to a few more
Bosch parts suppliers and they wanted around £8 for the bearing
Plus £15 postage cos they had to special order from Germany.
Seems a bit excessive to me!!!

Not to put the dampers on this but the rear bearings do have a habbit of wearing the housing so even with a new bearing you may well need a new rear casing.
I had mine rebuilt last week for this very fault (Bosch 90amp) aparently very common. I had a new rear casing, new rota with bearings, new brush regulator pack, stripped cleaned and rebuilt...£126.00..not cheap but I wanted it doing right.

spoke to these local guys - VERY helpful and got back to me within 10 mins, german quality bearing is now there waiting for me £7 + vat
