Has anyone galvanized their steels? Issues?

Hi
Im having some galvanizing done shortly and I have a set of spare standard steel rims which Im planning to send as well.
(Im hoping to get a set of decent winter tyres fitted on them once galvanized).
Has anyone else ever galvanized steel rims? Do any vehicles have galvanized rims? Any problems doing it?
The company can powder coat too, but the (rather knowledgeable) chap I spoke to states that powder coating is 'porous' - what's THAT all about? I always thought powder coating was the way forward!???
Cheers

Not A good idea if your talking about hot dip.
The rough suface will stop the tyres from sealing.
You can get stuff zink electro plated, but not sure on cost.
Powder coaters will shot blast prime and then
Finish all at one plant. This helps reduice any rust or dirt causing lack of adhesion.

Did get them done, and they came out lovely and smooth, and now shod with new tyres :D
Ended up getting 8 done!

I still think this is an awesome idea. I'm not into alloys at all and would go for this without question. :D Chrome nut covers to finish - drool....
