A mate with a Westfalia California has just bought a genuine mosquito net, which arrived today, with poppers .. he thought there would be poppers too around the sliding door but there are none.

How do members here suggest he fits it.

Try a different method. Having played around with these for about ten years I stopped using them because they are a faff. If you get in and out the mossies get in too so they are pretty ineffective (unless you are visiting midge coutry).

I use the alternative method. I open up the pop top canvas/mossie net plus the skylight, the sliding door, rear door and most other windows and let the mossies and other nasties fly straight in and straight out while we sit outside. We then shut the everything up once we go to bed. The last thing we close up is the pop top mossie netting, but leave the pop top canvas down so we can breathe. We still get one or two inside but far less mossies and other nasties than when using mossie nets. Happy camping.

We had killer mosquitoes when I was in Australia. We used to leave the doors and nets open for about 10-15mins while we burned one of those coil mosquito repellents (a whole coil would last about 3 days). Once we'd frightened all the little barstewards out, we closed the nets.

i thought the net is for the tail gate ? as i have poppers around mine for a net ( well i assumed it was for some sort of fly net )

Go on ebay and buy the poppers that go in the van - line it all up and pre drill small holes then fit with self tappers, something like this:

This thread may give you some ideas on an install of a screen door. Pretty much what everyone says to do but with some pics along the way. Hope it helps!............Tim

Yes some info on here to give you an idea of how they fit....but let me tell you the sliding door isn't just an even rectangle and the net has to go around the curved rail and seat belt so not a neat or straight forward as you would think.

We used a combination of these:

These are the ones we made NOTE* using magnetic flexible strip instead of a zip on the sliding door (easier and faster and doesn't snag)
