Improving T3 2.1 DF economy

I have a 1989 2.1 WBX with a digifant engine management. I am getting approx 4 miles per litre and believe from talking to other WBX owners that I should be able to get better mileage.
I have tested the airflow metre and it seems to check out ok, so I am currently planning to change the Lambda sensor and the coolant temp sensor.

Any advice gratefully recieved.

That's about 18mpg if I have done the sums right. A lot will depend on what sort of driving you're doing. If you're really concerned think about LPG conversion perhaps. Lambda may help a bit as will a good full service.

2.1 DF ...a DF is a 1.9.

25-28mpg is the very most you can expect from a WBX...even on a motorway run driving in your grandads slippers.

LPG it or change to a more modern, more efficient engine.

Sorry by DFI meant Digifant I think the engine is an MV.

I didnt know there was a DF engine too, every day is a school day!

I dont really want to change the engine but may consider a LPG. Do you know where I can find some info on LPG conversions? I've heard that you can get a kit and fit it yourself, if possible would consider that.
