Removing Prop Shaft

I read somewhere that if you remove the prop shaft there are "some additional precautions to take" can't remember where I saw it although convinced I did.
I want to take the shaft out to renew the joints and whilst out drive around a bit to see if the noise I get on a left turn is still there.....ie no power to front wheels... 'cause I still havn't cracked it yet.
I think it is just unbolt and remove and really can't think of any "additional precautions" but would welcome confirmation/comments..... It's on the 16" DOKA in case any one asks.
............Just in case a gearbox output shaft propels from the front at 1/2/3000ish rpm and someone says "....Oh you should have..........doh!"
Many Thanks
Peter

normally mark the prop flanges to the diff and box output flanges but you likely to get it re balanced so not so important. note which end rubber joint fitted and loosen diff mounts " if " you have trouble dropping the prop off after all bolt are out.
prop bolts are often rounded and a bit picky to undo. may want to consider new ones ????????

All the ones I have ever taken off get stuck on the gear box end (I have only ever taken 5 or so off though) and need a little tickle to free off.

Always carry 2x 13mm spanners as they are a pig to get off with 1x 13mm and 1x 14mm with a killer hangover and a failed tight VC!

Dropping the prop is easiest done with the front diff loosened on its mounts. If you are not going to do anything to the prop itself then mark the flanges so it goes back in the same place but if you do work to the prop itself then there is no need to mark anything. If you can, buy new prop nuts and bolts.

Many Thanks for the replies, Looks like I can take the shaft out and drive without worrying after all.
It's been out and back before, why on earth did they make the bolts 13 and 14mm anyway, what was wrong with standard 13mm nut and bolt....doh!
Thanks again all

they are 13mm both ends but small 13mm and fine thread self locking so b tight using a 14mm is a recipe for sliping spanner, grazed knuckles and rounded off bolts, hence Tom's post to advise against, a cheap worn 13mm spanner will be as much use
