I am thinking of changing my mirrors as my current standard ones are a bit ropey. Have a quandry though, new syncro ones or s/hand electric big mirrors (they seem to go for about the same money) obviously I'd most likely have to get the elec ones painted.
The crux of the matter is which give the better view? I prefer the look of the big ones but wonder if they are much of an improvement over the standard ones and how much better view do the syncro ones give?

The syncro mirrors offer a better view being further out.

They all give the same view

Syncro style ones are also twice the size and can be purchased new from germany for about £220.

I have them (cheaper £80 but now NLA new LT heated version) but like most things £220 can be better spent elsewhere. I would not be without them now

yeh but those big mirrors on the scaffolding are so agricultural looking and would make truckers blingmobile look like a farm truck

Sorry but what exactly is wrong with the original mirrors again ? After 8 years I've never found a fault with them ? (ok, so one of them was limper than Larry Grayson's handshake but once that was tightened up ... )

Nothing at all except mine are pretty knackered. I just wanted to know if the LT/Syncro ones made much difference as I find the interior one on my van next to useless for anything other than looking at the kids or the overhead locker, though on a left hooker having the o/s mirror heated is really handy (for fog and mist etc) but other than that really it's just an aesthetic thing (choice).. I thought the original ones looked spot-on on my steel bumper Auto sleeper.
I just like to have a few opinions before I throw cash at it

Mick I have seen syncro mirrors on pristine westy sycnros and they look excellent. It's horses for courses of course
