COLOUR SCHEMES

To cut a long story short I had to have some work done to the van a while ago and unfortunately the garage was unable to match the colour. Not to self, never buy another van with a custom colour!!
Anyway I've decided to get it sorted out and at present my van is with Dave at Futbus. I'm interested in any photos showing how other people have painted their vans. I'm sticking with the gold base colour but fancy adding a few strips to personalise it.
Any suggestions/photos would be appreciated. To start things of I've included a photo of what I'm thinking about.
Cheers
Rob

Poshbuggers is quite good at van paint designs, maybe he will contribute with something. I have always liked the plain paint on your van though and not keen on that big VW logo.

In all honesty...me too.
I'm not a big fan of putting massive VW logo's on things either, but that's me.

A good paint mixer can mix and shade any color to mach.As long as you can present the vehicle or a good panel. If they cant then they arent very good.

Coming from the White van contingent
Quite like the shadow effect kind of breaks up the van a bit, does Syncronutz not have some paint left over or the code?

I like that a lot, the shadow effect works well with the titanium effect on the alloys.
If you want to see a crackin big logo effect, see Dia's build thread. Looks great, nothing like making your van unique.

I don't think your van needs it Rob; its a one off as it is and looks very classy. Adding that kind of busyness to its visual impression would somehow detract from it imo. Somehow it looks right on Dais white backdrop; but gold is gold. I would leave it be.

Hi Russel, hope you are well. Maybe I should have said 'don't buy a custom colour van and take it to the back of beyond in Cantabria'. They really are 10 years behind here. Hopefully the guys in the UK can match the colour so I won't have to have the whole van painted. The garage here really made a pigs ear of it!!
Totally agree about the VW sign Jed, a little O.T.T., although I really like what Dia's done with his van. If I decide on having the stripes they'll probably be in solid black. I'm also planning to have the wheels painted black to match.

rob van looks awsome as it is. i quite like the shade on gold theme but not the layout you`ve done. as has been said it seems to work blue on white.
going to have to be carefull as it could easily spoil the van

Thanks for all your comments. The other option is to maybe go the Trailbreaker route...

Dave has just informed me of this thread Rob and I will try and help if I can.
Gold isn't the most obvious base for a scheme but I look forward to a challenge. Perhaps something simpler, but a little more adventurous than Westy style stripes would be more suitable.
As your van is high carrying them diagonally will make it look a bit top heavy and tall. Ideally this should be combated by some complimentary horizontal elements.
Please post me a copy of the base image you used to work from and I will have a go.
BTW....here is the current plan for mine.

Same base scheme as my ex-VWMS Golf which I am rebuilding:

The mix of sponsor graphics tones the stripes down a bit. In the case of your van a mix of angles would work just as well so I will work from there

The golf is lovely. Is it rude to say that out loud on this forum?
