Now I don't know about anyone else but I'm guessing I'm not alone in feeling a little....awkward/ overly modest perhaps, about submitting technical pieces/useful tips I have written through email for mod Wiki approval.
I had a think about this and reckon a 'Sticky' topic folder on 'proposed' wiki submissions...so if someone writes something interesting and valuable it can be 'COPIED & PASTED' into a permenant folder for the powers that be to approve...or not approve and use in the wiki.

This way there is no embarressment and other people can submit your work or Visaversa with say a week in the folder either delted and used or deleted and not used..no questions asked.

I just feel it would throw up some useful and useable stuff that would otherwise get missed.

I think the problem is usually one of time. As new members will know it can take a long while to even move from newbie to proper member simply because those who deal with these work long hours. In theory the WIKI is never finished and I use the search as much as I do the WIKI which usually produces the answer. I'm around a fair bit and always happy to add bits and pieces if you flag them to me but I agree, its an area that does fall short. You might want to volunteer for WIKI editing (with your background I'd say you were a prime candidate) but be warned it can absorb a lot of time. Its also easy to mess it up which is why it was never a free-for-all. Having edited it numerous times I can appreciate why it is so restricted. However, that shouldn't deter you.

I think you and I had this conversation after the Run To The Hills meet. If you want to talk more about this, feel free to PM me. I think the solution is to have at least two members who can spot the most useful articles and transfer them accordingly.

The biggest challenge is to avoid multiple threads on the same subject, one topic could easily fall into several categories and keeping it streamlined takes some thought, and a knowledge of what is there already. I am pretty sure there was a" topics for the wiki" thread somewhere which Clive set up and haunted, I tend to trawl through and pick out as and when I find something or if someone PMs me.
