Has anyone ever converted from LHD to RHD?
On the face of it...it would be the dash, RHD steering rack, pedals, shift wipers, change Headlamps but of course its never as simple as it sounds....

In this case that's no theory

I drive my LHD one around and rarely notice a difference. The visibility is very good anyway and, being less than swift off the mark, I tend to be careful at junctions. Seems to me there would be better value doing other jobs than this one.

When I was looking to buy, I went to look at a van which turned out to have been converted from LHD to RHD. The big clue apart from the sliding door on the wrong side, was that the hand brake lever was still on the left. I didn't buy it (for lots of reasons) so I can't help further.... but it can be done.

Think about it...moving the dash/pedals/steering is only the half of it...then there's all the associated wiring, metal brake & clutch lines, speedo cable, accelerator cable, handbrake/steering rack, not so bad if you have a donor I suppose.

you mean from this
to this?
3 days start to finish , first one , could probably get it down to 2 days
this is my daily driver , just turned 9000 miles this week.
i have seen a couple of others done and too say that this is probably the best one i have seen! - one of them didnt even have the wipers changed!
depending how clever you want to be will vary the out come-
things like throttle cable is about 4 inches shorter on the lhd so you can either extend it ( bodge) or fit the correct rhd one
interestngly enough the lhd shell has most of the rhd mountings in place ie the handbrake lever captive nuts are welded to the floor and are filled with sealer - you just need to cut the hole for the cable
i only did it as i wanted to see how easy it was listening to lots of people who said it was very difficult and near impossible to do!
the sliding door on the drivers side has never been a problem , ( and a rhd with o/s slider was a factory option from vw)
