Howdy dubsters and a happy new year to you all...

Searched the forums and am suprised this hasn't come up before (cue someone directed me to the thread i've missed, doh!! ).

Could do with some advice if any one can help please.

I've been working on replacing my interior this winter and have replaced and chopped just about everything inside and got her looking pretty sweet. I'll chuck some pics on photbucket so you can have a look at them.. I'm now at the finishing touches stage and have fitted a SMEV two ring stove and sink to my black worktops.

I've made enquiries about getting a gas fitter to connect the stove to my butane gas bottle. I'm told that it is the same as connecting a gas barbeque which sounds pretty simple. I'm guessing I'll need a regulator, thick rubber pipe and a pair of clips to fit the sucker. Any one offer any tips or give me a clue about any regs (length of pipe, type of regulator etc).

Professional conversions 'fixed' gas appliances in vans are generally run in copper until it reaches the gas bottle location where it changes for rubber for flexibility and ease of changing bottles. You will need a regulator.

No I don't know the size of copper pipe (although I'm sure someone who does will be along in a bit)

Normally 8mm OD copper.

hich model SMEV have you got Blibster? Might be the same as Andreas after, any good bad points about it?

Reckon i'll need a couple of copper olives and some bolts to go with that pipe.. Reckon i'll get the experts to fit it so i can be sure I won't gas us when i get around to using it in the wilds this year.

Hey Dazco... It's the 9222 with the sink on the right. Can't comment on its performance yet but came with exact measurements for the aperture needed in the worktop which looks great now its in. I got it without a tap as I am avoiding relying on electric wherever possible (pumps etc).. got a whale manual pump tap on ebay for £2 (good eh?) Which i have mounted on the worktop which works a treat..

I am saving for one of these. I have seen the diagram for the cut out and it is crazy. did you cut all the angles on it or just cut a hole if you know what i mean? Also how deep is it to the bottom of the burners from the top of the glass and how deep is the sink inc waste? sorry for all the questions but you are the first person I can talk to who has fitted one first hand.

Ey up Jamie,

No worries mate... Unfortunately the full aperture as you have seen is essential as it screws into the worktop in that exact shape for stability. It looks daunting but its pretty straightfoward once you get started. Just do the outer section in pencil on the worktop and keep going till all the guide lines are in. Drill holes at the edges and use a jigsaw to cut the gap out. The cooker will sit flush on the worktop and screws will go in pre-drilled holes in the unit attaching it firmly to the worktop and there are small rubber stoppers that will hide the screws and double up as cushions for the glass tops.

As for underneath the unit I'm hoping a picture will paint a thousand words but in short the gas connection underneath is very close to the surface and I estimate from glass to base is 10cm.... As for the sink I have taken a picture with a measurement which has the waste pipe fitted.. Let me know if you need anything else.

Sorry to jump in, but I'd found this thread in searching for info on klassicvwkampers so registered to post as it might save some headaches.

I'd avoid them, I've ordered a Semv hob/sink combo unit from them and had no contact whatsoever. Their phone numbers are no longer in use and they aren't replying to emails. I've blogged about it and linked to a couple of other forums where others have had issues with them.
