It had been repaired some time ago, but not sealed properly so tinworm had eaten a lot of metal..
but after much cutting and measuring and offering up of the "new" panel (Thanks Aidan)
I slapped a quick coat of paint on for the test, but it needs a little flatting down in places.. but then there are other areas that need a spray, so it can all wait..

Thanks
Cant find the pic in grey primer but will find a better one with the top coat on.. I am pretty pleased witht he result.. but I spent ages offering up, trimming and offering up.. then dare not weld it... until the wife said "JUST DO IT" (ok.. shouted)....
Ultimate goal, was to use as little filler as poss.. and as it hapened, it didnt get much!!

Is it just the way it looks in the pic, or did you spray the brake disc with primer too?!
Looks a good repair, and glad to hear your syncro is finally active.
Cheers,
Sam.

As I had the calipers and discs off (backing plate was real grotty) I wire brushed the mating surfaces and "Alu Zinq" sprayed them... the calipers will need a real good going over so may pick up a "spare" pair to rebuild.
