Hi,

I have just bought my first t25 it is the autsleeper pop top version and would like to know which is the best windout awning. also where is the best place to buy these from?

Don't use a wind-out awning personally, but a good few do. Fiamma seem to be quite popular, Someone who knows more will be along soon with info for you no doubt.

wind out or roll out? Both Fiamma. I have the roll out jobbie - sits in a bag that hangs on a c rail screwed to the fibre glass roof. Mine is as long as the van body...and therefore longer than the roof...but still works fine and gives excellent coverage! Wind can be an issue, but I have a tie down and guy ropes to keep it in place. The wind-outs tend to sit in a big metal box, and bolt to the fibre glass roof or the gutter. Bigger, heavier bits of kit. Not sure of the benefits, other than its a permanent fixture and you don't have to take it on and off (which I do as it is easily removed from the van)

Im thinking of the ones that are more permanent and in the box mainly so its more secure when parked. I have heard of the 2.5 metre type but would prefer something longer and I have herad of prices being £600 plus which may convince me to go for a driveaway awning instead.

Fiamma F45i are the most common wind-out, very expensive and the brackets are even more. Also more problematic to mount to a pop-top. These are VERY nice pieces of kit though.

i have an Omnistore (3000 i think).

it works on a recoil mechanism...you pull it out and it tensions a spring.....when its time to pack up it recoils itself and then just clips back to the case.

easy. brilliant. and german ( i think)

proper brackets to fit to a t3 ( which is really important if you drop on a secondhand one)

left to me I would never bother with a full awning....id stick with the pull out.

the other benefit is the Omnistore and the fiamma both have an awning rail so that you can fit a driveaway onto the case of the pull out. (if that makes sense)

For ages we wondered about getting an awning fitted on the van and have not long bought a roll out Fiamma which we are really pleased with. The great thing is that we can take it off the camper when we want to use our Khyam Motordome Sleeper awning. We've also put padlocks either end so its secure when parked up.

Are they as easy to fit as they look?

with the fiama / omnistore casette type...you dont need to take them off. you can fit a figure of 8 into a special channel ...and then use a kyham or whatever else exactly as you would if it was fitted on the van.

2 person job to hold the length....but 1 spanner and about half an hour tops.

no drama

i fitted mine with antitamper nuts to deter anyone thinking of unbolting it.

they come up secondhand on ebay and here / brickyard.

i bought mine from Eastfalia ( van importer) for £150
