Oil Pressure switch

Hi guys please can you help us out on this? I'm new to T25's so please be gentle!

I have a 1984 1.9 watercooled van and when I bought it a few weeks ago the oil warning light was U/S (when ignition was on red oil pressure light did not light).

I shorted the switch out to earth and the LED on the dash operated so concluded the oil pressure switch was faulty.

I sourced a replacement switch (black body) from GSF and once fitted the LED lit with the ignition on and extinguished a couple of seconds after the engine turned over. Confident the switch was working correctly I took the van out for a road test however 5 miles into the journey the light began to flicker before it eventually lighting up. I pulled over and checked the oil level and it was fine so continued to drive but it happened again.

Do you think I have fitted the correct switch or do I have a genuine oil pressure fault?

Any feedback would be great. Cheers.
