what is this pipe ive just changed ?!!

hi all cant put a pic up because i cant find the camera :( i was having a tinker with my van today its an 83 1.9 dg when i noticed a pipe had split it runs from the black cover on top of the carb to another thing which i dont know what it is :oops: would this be an oil breather pipe ? i changed the pipe but it doesnt seem to have made any difference to anything sorry this is a bit vague my haynes manual will be here soon hopefully thanks jeff

I don't know what it does - I'm a complete numpty at this, but is is to do with the oil thingy. Doesn't seem to make any difference when it's removed anyway.

thats the one it runs from the black cover on the carb to the thingy next to the alternator :D

Isn't it the oil tower breather pipe? I recently renewed mine with a Brickwerks replacement as mine was soft, and falling apart due to contamination.

It's the crankcase breather.

It recycles fumes in the crankcase to the carb which are then theoretically burnt so it does do something :D
