Speedometer

Hello, I'm back, divorced and relaxed!
Thank you to all who previously offered advice and things, many apologies if I didn't respond as well as I should have done, I run a small business which I'm having to sell whilst getting my divorce, finding a new home and a job, all in hand now.
To business.
The odometer on Henry (T25 L/H drive 1600 diesel) has never worked and now and quite inexplicably the Speedometer went from functional to non functional at the drop of an eyelid, or something.
I've found how the cable attaches to the speedo, but where does it go from there and is almost certainly a replacement job?
Thank you

Hello Richard,
Welcome back. :D
Speedo cable is driven from the grease cap on the nearside front wheel!!
If you jack the wheel off the ground and spin it you should be able to see if the speedo end of the cable is turning. Perhaps give the speedo end of the inner cable a tug to see that the two broken ends are not in contact with each other. The wheel end of the inner cable is square and held into the grease cap by a small circlip. IIRC!! :? Need to drop the spare wheel to change the complete cable.

Bit of extra info, when I first got my van the mileometer worked but the speedo didn't.
Turned out that the weight and curvature of the cable where in fits between the speedo and the inside of the front panel was distorting the case of the instrument.
Just tying it up in a straight (ish) line to the speedo with a cable tie fixed it.
So try that before dumping the speedo, if it turns out not to be the drive from the cable that's at fault.
