If it's a VW group 1.9TD then it'll be the ubiquitous AAZ code unit.

so the code (eg aaz, 1Y, 1Z) is not actually included in the engine number?

I think without an engine code, the easiest way of correctly identifying the engine would be with a pic. Pictures speak a thousand words... or so they say
Try to get shots of above and below (around the turbo area) and if your camera has a close up facitily, give the engine number a good scrub up and take a pic of that too.
Also look at the part number on the Diesel pump as they are specific and it could be indentified from that.

Oil filter is the same as everything else Diesel.
You have 3 choices for the fuel filter, screw on, 2 pipes or 4 pipes.
and for the airfilter just pull the old one out and cross refer it's part numbers, it depends on what the converters have used for an airbox. Most sensible option is the 1.6TD one but you never know.

Yeah, someone REALLY stupid might have used a cone filter on a TD engine.
