Sliding Door closing with a 'crash'

Hi - proud owner of a 1984 T25 (just got it a few weeks ago)
Busy poking around to see what is what!!
Lurking on Club8090 has already become a bit of an obsession!!

So, my first question - when I close the sliding door, at the final stage where it latches it sounds like a metal-on-metal crash (rather than a nice 'chunk' sound); Am I missing a seal somewhere?? I know this isn't much information to go from - I'd be happy to chuck up some pics if you can point me in the right direction. There is a seal around the door frame, and a rubber stopper type thing at the front of the door (ie nearest the front of the van) so it doesn't look like anything is missing but it sure sounds like there is. (It sounds like the noise is coming from the rear of the door but not sure)

(I had a look on the wiki, but all I found was info on fixing a non-latching door ...)

Cheers chaps.
(Now I need to get back outside, currently have dash off, seats out, house looks like a garage - and girlfriend gets home in a couple of days!)

check that the latches all line up. the doors have loads of adjustment. also look for marks where there should not be any, might give you a clue.

Early sliders are loud slam doors. Late sliders from 85 on close with a more sedate clunk

In which case I'm going to stop worrying about Vinnie's slam! Saved me a job, thanks :ok

yes the design was altered in 85-6, and slamming became a thing of the past
