Water in fuel tank (Diesel)

Evening All,

Just wondering if someone could clarify something for me please? I've managed to pick up some water in the fuel tank , from someone with an over powerful pressure washer.

Should the diesel filter trap the water, or will it pass through the filter and into the injectors?

There is a water trap on the filter I am not sure how efective it is, probably depends on how often you drain it and how much water in tank. Keep an eye on it I'd say, drain every day its run initially, run the tank down, Then drain the remnants and refill with known good fuel. If water is getting in then you might want to look at your filler neck they can break down and let in road spray.

Thanks. I'll have a look for a water trap on the filter :)

Its not ingress from normal use. chap at work washed the camper for me, and used one of the mega powerful pressure washers, and I suspect thats how it got into the tank

You haven't got a hole in the top of your tank have you, in the chanel where the coolant pipes run. Never had the problem myself, but hear that it's not that unusual. Might be worth a look.
Cheers

Rich

happened to us, it was the rubber connector between the filler neck and the back of the filler cap

Just drain the diesel filter in the normal way, from the bottom. You'll probably see water first then fuel. Change it anyway soon...

Thanks Harry :) I'll try and do it tomorrow night after work :)

The rubber neck is only a few months old, as replaced a ruined one.
