thanks but not sure i understand the question - I have an 1982/3 VW t25/Wedge carvelle converted to a camper - as failed it's mot due to corrosion on front outrigger/jacking point and my local coachworks asked me if I knew where to get a new one?

Duncan, what hes trying to say in a somewhat satyrical way is that your van is made by :?: VW  so my first port of call would be a VW dealer as pointed out .
that failing then if the firm that are going to do the job are conversant with this type of work then they should have no problem sourcing a part from a supplier, it is afterall 'their' biz.
JK would be the last port of call if needs must,
bit of info about yourself and location wouldnt go amiss either
cheers mm :ok

Duncan this is what you can do. Post up some pictures of the offending area. The MOT man may have written outrigger but it may just need plating around the cross member as I am sure the outrigger isn't part of the front jacking area???? :?: . It may just need the inner sill patching.

Once you have pics up then bodywork guru's like metalmickey can diagnose what you need. Additionally put your location down and you may even get a recommendation for getting the bodywork done :ok

Cross members and outriggers are still available from vw commercial van dealers but I'd hate you to get parts you don't really need based on inflexible computerised MOT comments

The guy has already got the panels for the job. Got them himself so will use what he has got and see what happens. As i said i dont know what there like yet. Starting the job on the 19th so will be able to let you know then. If its crap just as easy to make one up as said. :ok

Hi mate

I got my front outrigger from VW classic parts £28 delivered from Germany. Which is considerably cheaper than what VW heritage will sell you the same part from the same source :ok .

front jacking point / out rigger is NOT A FAIL ITEM no matter how badly corroded it is

only 12 inches of the seat belt mount can that area be failed for corrosion or sharpe edges likley to injur a pedestrian

a good tester will know this!

. Only down side is they will have to disturb the floor above the outrigger to get the old one out and the new one in properly.

It only took a week to get here from germany too :ok
