Hello fellow syncronauts our names are Anna and Leo, we have two boys (4+5 yrs old) Josh and Sol
we are proud to announce we have recently bought our very first Syncro which is a camper.
We live in Glyndyfrdwy, on the banks of the river Dee, nr. Llangollen.
Our engine is a guttless 1.6 tdi and our truck has never been off road.
We would like to buy all terrain tyres for the snow and the size of tyre which is on our truck is 185 / R14 / C
can we go up in size? big and beefy? please could someone advise. Clearly we are a family who are at present - clueless however, are keen to get on board.
thanks
xx

welcome to the fold getafix.
tyre size increase is common but it blunts performance for the standard engines. most go to 15" rims on a 14" syncro.
16 tdi is probally 16 td "jx engine code" tdi`s are something else alltogether.

ha no, they are our friends though, in fact Bob works with us providing first aid courses. We have a canoeing/kayaking business
http://www.getafix.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
we also have a large meadow next to the river which we have built a log roundhouse in. it sleeps 15 and has a wood fired pizza oven. we are in the middle of building a toilet and shower block.
we immediately thought - Syncro meet!!! it would be perfect with all the green lanes near by

tread carefully there`s a lot of us on here that have made the wrong choises.
with a syncro learning by others mistakes is much cheaper that learning by your own.
at`s are a good all rounder. personally grabber at2`s do it for me but some go for the bfg.

Hi getafix and welcome most people have gone upto 15" wheels and then put 215 75's on them. AT's will probably do you for most stuff the choice is yours personally run BFG's. Might be worth calling into Aidan your new neighbour in Llanfylin, altho he doesn't "do diesels" I'm sure he'll be happy to advise just bribe him with some dark chocolate or veggies

Hi Getafix
Welcome on board. Hope your pockets are deep and full as you'll end up spending a small fortune, but you do have the best van ever made!
Look forward to catching up sometime. Lets see some pics of your purchase.
All the best Rich

All terrains unless you intend to get into some real mud-plugging!
The nobblier the tyre the greater the road noise; also bear in mind on-road performance/grip is compromised by mud tyres.
Good quality tyres should last longer. BFG All terrains are most peoples choice for a syncro if funds allow.
15" Mercedes steel rims are usually easy to find and fit straight on with the right PCD/Centre bore and offset.
Just ask if there is anything you need to know.
