my door return spring on the arm that runs along the track has decided its not going to work any more.when i go to open the door it doesnt want to spring out at the back.when i look down the arm that has the spring on it it seems to be intact...is it a case of taking the door arm off the runner and unbolting it from the door?
what will i expect to find is wrong in there and is it an adjustment or a new mech?
anyone else had to do this?

They do stick , get an axle stand and place it at the right height to sit the rear of your door on then lift it of the runner,push fwd and out and sit it on the stand then remove arm etc from door and clean the gunge out and inspect.

I had the same problem. The arm was seized. I stripped it down, gave it a good greasing and it was good as new.

thats what i like to hear Martin...some wiggling with some wd40 then some grease

well it was just as you said..the pin that runs through the spring arm and housing was caked up and stiff.a bit of to-n-fro-ing with some wd40 soon sorted it out then some spray greases to keep it happy.now it pops out even better than before .
also managed to free up another part of the latching system that had seized..the door was a bugger to line back up though afterwards

I wouldn't know. Mine never gets stiff.

i hope to keep mine slack from now on too, a stiff one can get you into all sorts of trouble
