Right, this may be a bit hard to explain as I'm am clueless about electrics.  In my van I have some LED lights in the footwell which were fitted by the previous owner. They look like this: http://centrodesign.co.uk/images/light.JPG


I want to replace them as one of them doesn't work any more.  I purchased a couple of these to replace the existing lights: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LED-Car-Strip ... 0725873866

I cut the wire on the current lights, thinking that all i need to do is connect this wire to the wire on the new lights. Thing is I can't get the new lights working and I have no lights on the dash anymore! 

This must be a simple wiring job, but it seems to have gone a bit wrong! 

Can anyone guide me on this? Remember I am a complete novice at this but willing to have a go.

Led strip lights can only be connected one way so try swapping the wires over, but before that check to see if you have blown a fuse. I am assuming you have only cut the wires to the LED strips.

I cut the wires on the existing lights not the new LED lights. I checked all the fuses and they all seem ok.

You tried swapping the wires over on the new lights where you connect them to the loom?

Also if you have lost your other lights and allt the fuses are okay you may have a loose or broken connection. Trace the wiring you have disconnected the old lights from and see if you can find a broken connection.

check your fuses again if you cut through both wires at the same time.

Thanks for the replies. I had a second look at the fuses and as it happens one had blown! It was one of those three fuses which are at the top of the fusebox —the ones you cant see unless you have your head on the floor! I replaced the offender and it all works a treat!
