do you think they would be power hungry? could I run it off a battery based inverter (ie not whilst driving)

Mine is only rated 5watts, I think you probably lose more in the inverter, havn't seen a 12volt one but they would probably be quite inefficiant as they have to generate a high voltage for the grid so an inverter is probbaly your best bet.

This one is rated at 3watts but I would only use it when on site with a hook up.JK do a 12v one at about £15 ,I have never had a proplem with flies on the move .

Ouch mine cost 8.50 but as long as it works.
I live and mainly camp in Scotland so it's money well spent against the dreaded midge

The price of petrol ,that diff of £3 would soon disappear as we havn't got a local shop selling them.No flies on me (when I get it anyway)
