gear linkage centre bush

Hi All,

I have the petrol tank off at the monent so am poking around doing jobs that can be done whilst it is off.

Looking at the centre gear linkage bush it has disintegrated.

However it looks quite a bit different from the photos on the wikki and Jk and brickwerks catalogues seem to imply that the bush is held in by two plates. I'm a bit confussed. Can anyone explain? It is an early 1.6 AC (W-reg).

Also any advice on replacement would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Paul.

thats from an early Aircooled era van

not checked the wiki but the later ones have the bearing further back , behind the tank (engine side) and as you say clamps between 2 plates that bolt to the chassis cross member.

not sure if the bush is the same tho , possibly yes.

there are part numbers on them , if its not worn away.!

Hi ,

Thanks for getting back... Yes it looks like the early T25's had a different gear linkage!

The bush is pretty much non existant -

But what is left has the number 251 711 207 on it and a C00-9.

I think that the 251 711 207 is the generic code for the bushes. 251 711 207D & 251 711 207E are available. Both really for the later linkage. The wiki talks about using 251 711 207D. I think I'll get one of those and see if it fits. (Mind you the photo below looks nothing like the remnants that I have).

Thanks again,

Paul.

Try emailing brickwerks about it. I'm sure Simon has come accross it before and can advise on a workaround
