Headlamps!

Anybody ever bought a set of these beauties

With justkampers having headlamps on back order I was wondering if these will do the job.

Be adjustable to the correct side?

Are they any brighter than the standard ones or is it all in the bulb?

Any advice would be great.

It's all in the wiring, have a look in the wiki for the headlight wiring upgrade that will make the most difference for less than the price of a pair of uprated bulbs

Besides there are very strict MOT requirements regarding the aim/pattern and homologation (official compliance to recognised british and european standards)
You might be lucky and get an MOT tester who is not so hot on the legalities of such things but chances are these would result in a fail...it's just not worth it.

The best thing you can do it buy a pair of Philips 'EXTREME' or OSRAM NightBreaker Plus bulbs and at some point carry out the well documented 'relay mod'. The first will give you at least 50% better light at the same (legal) wattage and the second will ensure full alternator voltage gets to the bulbs.
Unfortunately VW lighting systems were not particularly 'over engineered' and suffer from significant 'voltage drop' in their wiring. This of course is made worse with age and by loose/tarnished and corroded terminals.

If they made them for RHD i'd be interested but I fear not. Just improve your wiring and uprate your bulbs as said.

The search did not start with looking to upgrade my power of light beam. It started because justkampers have ran out.
Here's a question then. If they are round headlights made for left hand drive. What would be wrong in unscrewing them from the mounting frame and then turning them 180 degrees and then putting them back onto the frame. Would this not be them round the correct way and everything lovely jubbly. No!

Think carefully about what you have proposed! You will soon see why not.

The next time you think Justkampers first check brickwerks before parting with your cash for dubious jk part quality and save yourself buying LHD lamps that may/may not pass an MOT on a good/bad/indifferent/ day

These even come with the mounting brackets

And no you can't rotate them 180 degrees to get around the problem. :D

Only if you're a plane spotter. :)
