On a petrol wbx 5 speed the fill level is 4 litres from drained ... there's oil hiding in the back corners though of course and dry capacity is 4.5 litres.

On level ground, fill until it just spills over, which should be 4 litres minimum (if you drain it when warm, you'll get more of the dregs out)

Just filled my 5sp box with diesel bell housing on from completely empty. I filled it till it dribbled out then left it for 20 mins to allow the oil to seep through the bearings into the diff then got another half a litre in. In total 4.5 liters filled it up.
