Hi
a friend has just got some banded wheels for a T4. Looks good.
I was thinking of some on my 83 hi top camper.
Any one know of any problems ie wheel bearings, sliding door issues.
Was thinking of about adding two inches to the rear one inch to the fronts
Should have said I would be using T25 wheels and getting them banded.
Any pics.

Well, if your friend has just got these wheels why should you have problems on your van?

Perhaps you should post the pictures of your friends van so we can work out what you are talking about.

standard t4 wheels have the wrong size center bore+ wrong offset, inside of wheel will hit the suspension on the front , ok on rear but look a little odd.

just as easy to band your original wheels , measure the gaps and you will know how much you can band them.

Not sure if i have you right.But your not going to get t4 wheels on a t25.

Loads of unsubstantiated stuff online questioning it but I could never understand why and think they look cool.

lots of myths ans speculation

mostly due to the ideal of welding a wheel which must be straight and true and also have a good weld and still be ok to take the load and rotate in balance

for mot purposes its not part of the test

the plod cant do anything but gabble a bit , if they even notice.

tecnically they are a modification from standard so you should tell your insurance , but 'wide wheels' is usually enough and to the untrained eye thats all they are!

your insurance may get upset if you tell them , or they may not ,- same if you have an accident that is serious enoght for a full investigation which is rare

i think if you tell someone your haveing some made it may raise some eyebrows as opposed to you using a car which has had them fitted for 20 years to which they will ' obviously be ok'
