how do you measurea a wheel rim is from side to side or in side were the tyre fits . thanks .

it's the diameter across it. so a 195/75/14 would be 14" across the face rim edge to rim edge

thanks i put a tape across and it is 15in but on the tyre it says 14 in , am i doing it wrong !!

It's the measurement across where the tyre bead sits in both the diameter and the rim width.
