Carthago Plastic Window to Glass?

Evening all - first time van owner and first time poster.... I have just bought a 1986 carthago conversion based on a Type 251. The side window (opposite the sliding door) is double glazed plastic and is badly cracked and needs replacing. I've looked around in both England (where I'm from) and France (where I live) and am really struggling to find a replacement. Can I replace these with glass instead? I have spotted a Westy locally that looks to be about the same vintage as mine which has a glass window there so guess it must be do-able. Any suggestions as to whether or not this is an option and recommended suppliers? A photo of the van is attached.

yours is based on a panel van, so westfalia windows (inc caravelle) wont fit. Yours will be a specific carthago size. Try german ebay, this will probably be your best bet. Or as has been mentioned on here somewhere, if its just the internal part of the double glazing that has cracked, you can split the two panels and cut a bit of perspex the same size, then stick back together.

HI, as lloydy says or take the plaggy window out and go to your local glaziers and gert them to cut you one from some laminated glass,
would cost about £35ish here inc polishing the edges

Thanks for the quick replies gents - am going to try the glazier option and if that doesn't work will try German ebay. Thanks again, mark

Hi there.
How did this go? Did you find a replacement? I have a 1988 Carthago and have the same problem with the window on the sliding door. Big crack, full of condensation, probably not good for the bodywork.
It's hard to get the plastic windows back in without cracking them once you've taken them out - my bodyshop had this issue with the tailgate when they repaired it, although they managed to get it back in ok.
Many thanks!
